Dear colleagues,

The Workshop Aggression took place from Thursday, 20th November to Saturday, 22nd November 2014 at the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. The conference language was English and the workshop was supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The Workshop afforded the opportunity to scientists of different disciplines – psychology, educational sciences, sciences of communication und linguistics – for a mutual exchange and to present and discuss own papers to actual research concerning the subject aggression.

The discussions focussed on Social and Media Dimensions of Aggression. Papers concerning this subject contained the topics trolling und aggression via internet, bystander of aggression, risk factors und prevention of Cyberbullying, violent video games and the reception of findings of research of aggression in public. Besides, papers of other areas of research concerning aggression covered the topics social dimensions of sexual aggression, empirical approaches of research concerning aggression, mobbing at work, normative predictors of aggression and aggression in childhood. In terms of 3 main lectures, 9 posters and 25 oral presentations overall 37 English-speaking papers treated these subjects.

We were especially pleased that the following speakers hold keynote talks: Dr. Gianluca Gini (University of Padua, Padua, Italy), Jun.-Prof. Dr. Tobias Rothmund (University of Koblenz-Landau, Campus Landau, Germany), Dr. Petra Gradinger (FH Oberösterreich, Linz, Austria).

We look back on a successful Workshop Aggression. We thank all participating German-speaking and international scientists for the inspiring atmosphere and the intense exchange of actual research findings concerning aggression. We thank the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the kind financial support of the Workshop. We give also thanks to the Faculty IV Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the TU Berlin for the kind provision of rooms as well as the many helping persons for the successful realization of the Workshop Aggression.
