Bauhaus 4.0 - Subproject EDIPRO

The joint project „Bauhaus 4.0 – Digital Update for the artistic design teaching of Bauhaus. Concept for digital prototyping in higher education for industry 4.0“ is an interdisciplinary project for the digital innovation in artistic design teaching, lead by Kunsthochschule Weißensee. Aim of the joint project is to shed light on pathways and conditions in learning and educational processes and the development of competencies of art students in the area of digital protoyping.

The sub-project „Evaluation of digital prototyping in artistic learning processes“ in the department of Educational Psychology at TU Berlin analyzes the effects of digital learning opportunities on artistic-design competencies of students in a new technology-enhanced learning environment (TEL). This includes the use of a robot arm for blueprints and design (see pictures) as well as digital learning rooms and collaboration software. The combination of rapid prototyping approaches as a field for learning and experimenting for design and product development with new documentation and reflection tools enables hybrid learning rooms in which online and offline learning processes are deeply intertwined. This innovative approach to higher education in artistic design teaching will be scientifically evaluated using both qualitative and quantitative empirical methods. Following i.a. the concept of technology acceptance, the sub-project focusses on two thematic priorities concerning conditions of digital learning in educational institutions and individual learning preconditions and learning outcomes.

The project is funded by Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the funding number 16DHB3002.
