Announcement of thesis

The department of Educational Psychology at the Institute of Education of the Technical University of Berlin is always looking for students wanting to write an empirical thesis (diploma, magister, master) about one of the key subjects in one of our actual research projects.

Interest in empirical working, experienced use of SPSS (progressed level: variance analysis, regression, mediation analysis etc.) and/or of mplus and experience in quantitative data analysis are required. We are looking forward hearing from you!

Current research projects and possible thesis:

1. GeMiS - Gender, Migration and School

Key subjects: development of interest in math class, gender differences, migration. Dataset available (2 times of measurement, N=370, age=13-17): cross sectional- and/or longitudinal section analysis possible, lower secondary school, middle school, and high school).

2. Cyberbullying, Empathy und Aggression

Key subjects: children and adolescent aggression, Cyberbullying (aggression via Internet und mobile phones), use of media, impact of media and empathy

3. KELA - Assessment of student trainees’ competencies

Key subjects: educational scientific assessment of student trainees’ competencies at technical universities. Longitudinal section study with three times of measurement. Dataset available. Qualitative and quantitative analysis possible.

4. Motivation and career aspiration - motivational learning processes of girls and boys in STEM* areas.

Key subjects: psychology of motivation, gender-related career aspirations, STEM, education, family.
Dataset: Questionnaire (cross-section), 8th to 12th-grader, integrated secondary schools, high schools.

5. LiP – prospective teacher in internships, education of teachers
Key subject: internship evaluation
Dataset: Online-Survey (cross-section), prospective teacher (first semester of their bachelor.).
